Good luck on your (서술형, Story telling) Midterm Exam and PBL~

제목: dir='minus'은 무슨 의미인가요?
dir='minus' 어떤 명령어죠?
Smart learning environment

제목: sage에서 dir의 의미: limit(f(x), x=a, dir='plus') f(x)의 x=a+ 에서의 극한값
limit(f(x), x=a) f(x)의 x=a 에서의 극한값
limit(f(x), x=a, dir='plus') f(x)의 x=a+ 에서의 극한값
limit(f(x), x=a, dir='minus') f(x)의 x=a- 에서의 극한값
'dir'=direction 방향을 나타내는데 쓰입니다.
In physics, the center of mass in space is the unique point where the weighted relative position of the distributed mass sums to zero.
Calculations in mechanics are simplified when formulated with respect to the center of mass.
In the case of a single rigid body, the center of mass is fixed in relation to the body, and if the body has uniform density, it will be located at the centroid.
The center of mass may be located outside the physical body.
The center of mass is the mean location of all the mass in a system.

1. Newton's method
4. State the Procedure for Newton’s Method.
Let us consider the graph of
and we want to solve
. We start with the (proper, 해에 충분히 가까운) initial approximation
, which may be obtained by just guessing, or examining the graph of
. Then we use the tangent line
to the curve
at the point
to approximate the curve and look at the
-intercept of
, labeled
. The equation of the tangent line
is
. Thus, we obtain
. If
, we can solve this equation for
: ![]()
Under certain conditions,
is usually a better approximation to the solution than
. Then we repeat this procedure with
replaced by
, using the tangent line at
. This gives a third approximation:
. Continuing this process obtains a sequence of approximations
,
,
,
as shown in the Figure. In general, if
then we have
. The number
becomes closer and closer to the solution if the sequence
converges as
. We note that if
then the sequence may not converge. In this case, we have to choose a different initial
. ■
5. State what you know about the number ![]()
:
The number
is an important mathematical constant, approximately equal to 2.71828, that is the base of the natural logarithm. This number arises in the study of compound interest, and can also be calculated as the sum of the infinite series
. The constant can be defined in many ways; for example,
is the unique real number such that the value of the derivative (slope of the tangent line) of the function
at the point
is equal to 1. The number
is defined so that when
from
as
. There is a very important exponential function that arises naturally in many places. This function is called the natural exponential function. However, for most people this is simply the exponential function. For
,
implies
, and from the general derivative above we have
. Thus the slope of a tangent line to the curve
is equal to the
-coordinate of the point. The Natural Exponential Function :
,
or
.
Since the logarithm is an increasing function, it is one-to-one and therefore has an inverse function, which we denote by exp. Thus, according to the definition of an inverse function,
and
and
. In particular, we have
since
.
since
. We obtain the graph of
by reflecting the graph of
about the line
. The domain of exp is the range of the logarithm. That is,
which is the range of the logarithm, is the domain of the exponential and
, which is the domain of the logarithm is the range of exponential. If
is any rational number, then the third law of logarithms gives
. Therefore, by
. Thus,
whenever
is a rational number. This leads us to define
, even for irrational values of
, by the equation
. In other words, for the reasons given, we define
to be the inverse of the function
.
Properties of the Exponential Function. The exponential function
is an increasing continuous function with domain
and range
. Thus,
for all
. Also
. So the
-axis is a horizontal asymptote of
. Exponential Function: Consider the exponential function
where

From the definition of the derivative: ![]()
. Thus ![]()

Applications of Integration by 우시명 군,
6.1 Areas between Curves
6.2 Volumes
6.3 Volumes by Cylindrical Shells
6.4 Work
따라서 a에서 b까지 어떤 물체가 이동할때 어떤 위치 x에서의 힘이 F(x)로 표현이 되고 일(W)은 a에서 b까지 F(x)를 적분한 값이 됩니다.
6.5 Average Value of a Function
, y(n) 이 있을 때, y(average) = y(1)+y(2)+...+y(n) / n 이라는 것을 알고 있으므로 이것을 함수에서 적용하면(a에서 b까지를 n등분하여서 위와같은 절차로 구하고 n을 무한대로 보낸다) a에서 b까지에서 함수 f(x)의 평균값이 f(x)를 a에서 b까지 적분한 것을 b-a(적분구간) 로 나눈 값이 된다는 것을 알게된다.
8장 Further Applications of Integration (적분의 활용) by 계성곤 군,
8.1 Arc Length(호 길이)
8.2 Area of a Surface of Revolution(회전체 겉넓이)
회전체의 겉넓이를 적분을 이용해서 구하는 방법을 배우게 됩니다. 식의 꼴이 앞서 6장에서 배운 Cylindrical Shells의 식과 유사하지만 Cylindrical Shells의 경우는 부피를 구하고 이번의 경우는 겉넓이를 구하게 됩니다. 과거에는 평면의 넓이만을 구할 수 있었는데 이제는 곡면의 넓이도 구할 수 있게 되었습니다.(비교 ;
8.3 Center of Mass
8.4 Differential Equations
Chapter 9 by (문지호 군),
Infinite Sequences and Infinite Series
9.1 Sequences and Series
9.2 Tests for convergence of Series
The Integral Test :
The Comparison Test :
The Limit Comparison Test :
9.3 Alternating Series and Absolute Convergence
9.4 Power Series
9.5 Taylor, Maclaurin, and Binomial Series

Parametric Equations and Polar Coordinates by 배성준
10-3 : Polar Coordinates
10-5 : Conic Section
◆ Final Comment after you finished this PBL report
<3월>
<4월>
<6월>
