    Korea has distinct four seasons; spring, summer, fall and winter. Especially, Summer, the season for ILAS 2014, is the best time to visit Korea.     Currency
    The unit of Korean currency is Won. Korean monetary units are KRW10, KRW50, KRW100, and KRW500 coins, and KRW1,000, KRW5,000, KRW10,000 and KRW50,000 notes. For higher denominations, negotiable cashier’s checks are used. Major currencies and traveler’s checks can be exchanged into Korean won at the airport, hotels, and at all Korean banks. Credit cards, e.g. VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Diners Club, are all widely accepted.

    Business Hours
    Government offices are open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday. Most private businesses open at 8:30 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m. but some open until late evening. Bank hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays. Foreign diplomatic missions in Seoul are usually open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and are closed on Saturday, Sunday and their respective national holidays.
    Electricity and Voltage
    The standard voltage in Korea is 220 volts. The outlet has two round holes and is the same type used in France, Germany, Austria, Greece, Turkey, and many other countries. If you do not have a multi-voltage travel adapter, you can borrow one from your hotel’s front desk.
    Tip&Tax
    Service Charges are included in your bill for rooms. Meals and other services at hotels and upscale restaurants. Koreans occasionally do tip when they are especially pleased with the service they receive. Foreign tourists can receive nearly 10% VAT refunds for purchases at Duty Free shops. Goods must be taken out of Korea within three months of purchase to be eligible for a tax refund. Visitors can receive a refund on a receipt for a minimum purchase of KRW 50,000 (around USD 50). To receive this refund, present receipts with the purchased goods at the customs clearance desk at Incheon International Airport when departing
    Mobile Phone Rental
    You may rent a mobile phone at the Incheon International Airport or Gimpo International Airport. Users can rent a handset and pay rental and call charges upon returning the phone.
